Taster Rides Taster Rides are the perfect introduction to Cyclesolihull rides. They are only 5 miles long but otherwise similar to the other Cycesolihull Sunday Cycle Rides. So if you are new to cycling and want to give the rides a try without having to cycle very far, these rides might be just the thing for you. They are also a good introduction for small children who may not have cycled very far before. In planning Taster Rides the needs of parents accompanying younger riders are especially considered. Taster Rides take place on quiet country lanes so they are suitable for relatively new cyclists. Someone at the front ('the leader') will lead the way and a 'backmarker' will be appointed so no one gets left behind. Every so often the ride will stop to regroup so the overall pace is of the slowest rider. Additional support at junctions may also be provided on these rides. Taster Rides take place on the second Sunday of each month, starting at 2 pm (Summer ) or 1.30 pm (Winter) from one of five different locations (more information on start points). All rides return to the start point and finish by about 3.30 pm. Although many people cycle to the start point, convenient free parking is available at all start points. Taster Rides form part of Cyclesolihull's series of Family Rides which are considered especially suitable for families with young children. Taster Rides and experienced cyclists Please come along even if you think 5 miles is too short! It is helpful to have some experienced cyclists to keep an eye on the young riders, act as unofficial marshalls at junctions...and generally offer a helping hand. You can always have a longer ride getting to and from the start point! |

What will the weather be like? See where the rain is now with the Met Office rradar Cyclesolihull rides go ahead unless there is persistant heavy rain (not just showers), very strong winds, snow or ice. Rides are rarely cancelled (5 in 2010 due to snow and ice) but if we feel this is necessary because forecast bad weather we will try and put information about this on the website before the start of the ride.

Try Cyclesolihull's other rides: Sunday Cycle Rides take place most other Sundays at 2 pm during the spring and summer (1.30 pm autumn and winter). They are between 10 and 20 miles long, depending on which of the Cyclesolihull routes is being cycled. Evening Explorer rides are on alternate Wednesdays from mid-May to early August. They start at 7 pm from various locations and are about 10 miles long, following the shorter 'S' routes. There is a pub refreshment stop of about 30 minutes and the ride will finish before 9 pm. Saturday Stretcher rides are the longest Cyclesolihull rides at between 20 and 30 miles. There is no fixed route and they may use sections of busier roads. They are not suitable for small children.
