Evening Explorer Rides

The Evening Explorer Rides are similar to the Sunday Cycle Rides except they take place alternate Wednesday evenings from mid-May to early August, starting at 7 pm from eight different places around the borough.

Although many people cycle to the start point, they all have free parking in case you need to bring your bike by car (more information about start points).

All the rides take place on quiet roads, mainly country lanes and cycle paths so they are suitable for relatively new cyclists.

Someone at the front ('the leader') will lead the way and a 'backmarker' will be appointed so no one gets left behind. Every so often the ride will stop to regroup so the overall pace is of the slowest rider.

There is always a refreshment stop of about 30 minutes at pub with a garden.

Although children are welcome, please bear in mind that the ride will not finish to 9 pm and that some children are often quite tired by this time of day.

You should not need lights on the actual ride but you may need them if you cycle any distance home afterwards.

Because of the restricted daylight all the rides follow one of the Cyclesolihull short 'S' routes which are about 10 miles long.

All rides return to the start point and finish before 9 pm.

Cyclesolihull Cycling Culture

towards a Solihull where cycling is the norm.

Try Cyclesolihull's other rides:

Sunday Cycle Rides take place most Sundays at 2 PM during the spring and summer. They are between 10 and 20 miles long, depending on which of the 19 Cyclesolihull routes is being cycled

Taster Rides are occasional shorter rides of about 5 miles long. They start at 2 PM and there is a refreshment stop. These rides are an ideal introduction to Cyclesolihull rides for new cyclists and families with children. They are just like the other rides but much shorter!

Saturday Stretcher rides are the longest Cyclesolihull rides at between 20 and 25 miles. There is no fixed route and they may use sections of busier roads. They are not suitable for small children.
