Cycletosolihull Day

Cycle-to-Solihull Day is an opportunity to come to Solihull by bike, meet other riders and enjoy an afternoon on two wheels in the town centre.

The fourth Cycle-to-Solihull Day is Sunday 25 September 2011. The core of the day is an opportunity to ride with others to Solihull town centre from a number of different locations. This year the event will be linked to the Fun in the Park event in Tudor Grange Park. Rides will combine in the High Street and make their way to the Fun-in-the-Park arena for 3 pm. There is free entry to the event via this ride. In addition to the many Fun in the Park activities and attractions there will be a Cyclesolihull information stall and other cycling activities including a chance to have your bike checked!

Cheswick Green (Cheswick Way shops) at 1.45 pm

Dickens Heath (library) at 1.30 pm

Dorridge (station) at 1.45 pm

Elmdon Park (Tanhouse Farm Road car park) at 1.55 pm

Hampton in Arden (war memorial) at 1.45 pm

Knowle (park car park) at 2.00 pm

Lyndon (Lyndon Road/Barn Lane shops) at 1.45 pm

Marston Green (country park car park, Elmdon Lane) at 1.30 pm

Monkspath (shops) at 2.05 pm

Olton (Castle Lane/Knightsbridge Road shops) at 1.55 pm

Cyclesolihull rides go ahead unless there is persistant heavy rain (not just showers), very strong winds, snow or ice. Rides are rarely cancelled (5 in 2010 due to snow and ice) but if we feel this is necessary because forecast bad weather we will try and put information about this on the website before the start of the ride.

CycletoSolihull Day 2011 is on Sunday 25 September.

Route 1 Dorridge (rail station) & Knowe (Jobs Close Park car park)

Avenue Rd, L into Knowle Wood Rd, L into Grove Rd, R into Station Rd, L into Barcheston Rd, R into Purnells Way, L into Starbold Crescent. 3rd R (still) Starbold Crescent, L (still) Starbold Crescent. PATH straight-on at end into Landor Dr. R at end into Longdon Rd. R into Jobs Close Park car park. L into Longdon Rd and immediately R into Newton Rd. PATH at end to Warwick Road (cycle lane). PATH L to (old) Warwick Rd - footbridge over M42, (old) Warwick Rd, L into car park and PATH through Brueton/Malvern Park, L into Cedarhurst, L into New Rd, R into High St

Route 2 Cheswick Green (shops on Cheswick Way) & Monkspath (Shelly Farm shops, Farmhouse Way)

L into Cheswick Way, L into Creynolds Lane, pelican across on R across Stratford Rd, L then SO into Hay Lane, following cycle route signs and PATH. R onto PATH to Shelly Farm shops. Use PATH and toucan to cross Monkspath Hall Rd then R onto cycle path, PATHS around roundabout then PATH to Libbards Way, R at path into Fielding Lane. Cross Alderminster Drive and L PATH into Woodperry Ave. At end SO across Charterhouse Dr. First L into Chelhorn Way and follow Cycle Route signs via Huntley Drive. At end R into Whitefields Rd and at end L to Toucan crossing. Follow cycle route across Church Hill Road then join road to go uphill. L into High St.

Route 3 Dickens Heath (library in villlage centre) & Shirley Park (behind Aldi off Stratford Road)

L from Library. SO at road closure into Dickens Heath Rd. Use Cycle PATH. L into Tanworth Lane, L into Stretton Rd, At end R into Shakespeare Dr, L into Shottery Rd, L then R into Portia Ave, R and L into Shirley Park Rd, R at end into Grenville Rd, PATH through Shirley Park to car park. L onto Stratford Rd (cycle PATH). Cross at toucan and L then R into Stanway Rd, At end L into Solihull Rd and SO at roundabout into Sharmans Cross Rd, R near end (use path) into Dorchester Rd. At end L (walk) along footpath of Blossomfield Rd to pelican. Cross and continue along footpath to Homer Rd (stub)/Princes Gate. Use cycle path and cross at signals into Homer Road proper. L into Herbert Road cycle path, R at end into Station Rd, R into High St.

Route 4 Lyndon (shops at Lyndon Rd/Barn Lane) & Olton (shops at Castle Lane/ Knightsbridge Road)

L into Lyndon Rd, L into PATH through Olton Park. PATH R to exit park and go SO into Summerfield Road. R into Castle Lane. Shops on L. L at mini-roundabout into Ulverley Green Rd, R into Bourton Rd, SO into Marsham Court Rd, L into Melford Hall Rd, R into Heaton Rd. L on PATH at Warwick Road and cross at island R into Wadley's Rd, Cross over RAILWAY. L into Bryanston Rd, R into Stonor Park Rd. At Streetsbrook Rd go SO/L into Dorchester Rd, At end L (walk) along footpath of Blossomfield Rd to pelican. Cross and continue along footpath to Homer Rd (stub)/Princes Gate. Use cycle path and cross at signals into Homer Road proper. L into Herbert Road cycle path. R at end into Station Rd, R into High St.

Route 5 Marston Green (Sheldon Country Park/new station car park, Elmdon Lane) & Elmdon Park (Tanhouse Farm Road car park)

L into Sheldon Country Park, past BHX runway. L at PATH junction. SO into Mapledene Rd,L into Shepheard Rd, R then L into Arden Oak Rd. Cross Coventry Rd at toucan on L. R to PATH leading to Streamside Way, SO along PATH through Elmdon Park to car park (on R at Tanhouse Farm Rd). PATH up hill to other car park. R into Elmdon Church Lane R at signals and SO ar roundabout into Damson Lane. R at end into Cornyx Lane and L into Glebe Rd , R and L around The Green and through subway under Solihull Bypass, SO into Broomfields Farm Rd. R into Grove Rd and L into PATH to Union Rd. At end R into Warwick Rd and L into Mill Lane (use pelican). Walk through Mell Square to High St.

Route 6 Hampton in Arden (War Memorial, High St) & Catherine-de-Barnes (The Boat)

Down ShadowbrookLane, L onto Catherine-de-Barnes Lane (PATH), SO into (old) Bickenhill Lane, L into Barbers Lane. At end R onto Hampton Lane. Over Canal and L into The Boat car park. L out of Boat. L into Henwood Lane. R into Berry Hall Lane, L into Hampton Lane. SO at signals into Marsh Lane. SO at bend into stub of road and cross Warwick Road using short lengths of Cycle PATH. Join road stub on other side and R into (old) Warwick Rd. R into car park and PATH through Brueton/Malvern Park, L into Cedarhurst, at end L into New Rd, R into High St at war memorial.
