Solihull Cycling Steering Group Members

Solihull Care Trust is a National Health Service body. There are currently only nine in England and some of these only provide mental health and social care services. In Solihull, the Care Trust provides a huge range of services: home, day and residential care, healthcare, treatment and advice, support for carers and health promotion advice and guidance.

In Solihull the Care Trust provides health and social care directly to 212,000 patients, registered at 31 GP practices. Along with encouraging a healthier lifestyle through health promotion, our staff provide care, treatment and advice in the community through doctors, nurses, health visitors and therapists. This is about making sure that people get the right care in the right place at the right time and more often than not the right care can be delivered in the community.

Half an hour's moderate-intensity physical exercise such as cycling, brisk walking or 'heavy' gardening on most days of the week (at least five) can keep you active for life.

Cycling is an ideal activity to fulfil Government recommendations as it can fit in so easily to daily life.

Health benefits include:

Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
More energy
Greater stamina
Improved confidence
Helps with weight management
Improved mental health

Check with your doctor first if you have any concerns about your health and build up gently if you're starting from scratch.
